Wynn Austin, founder of Wynn's Kitchen on the speaker panel at USC Marshall -Global Supply Chain Summit 2024
As I sat down to reflect on my recent experience as a speaker at the University of Southern California (USC) Marshall School of Business - 2024 Supply Chain I couldn't help but feel an overwhelming sense of pride and gratitude. Being invited to speak on a panel at such a prestigious institution is not just a professional milestone—it's a personal achievement that I will cherish for a long time.
I never imagined cooking up a pot of saté sauce in my kitchen back in 2016 will lead me to the adventure that I’m on today. And yes…it’s an adventure with lots of twists and turns.
I’ve had challenging careers in the past but nothing has pushed me to grow like Wynn’s Kitchen. I thought I was comfortable being out of my comfort zone…think again!
I’ve been pushed so far out of my comfort zone In this career- from learning to be a food scientist, graphic designer, creating pitch decks, video editor, podcaster, email marketing, all the ins and outs of boxes ( yes it’s very important), shipping, blogging, sales, grocery retail management, the bizarre finances that comes with CPG, being on camera a lot, but pitching on stage, and being on a speaker panel at USC was WAY out of my comfort zone and I loved it!
I don’t even remember what I said, and I was blind as a bat from all the bright lights, but it was an incredible experience.
It was an honor to share a seat on an incredible panel with other executives and entrepreneurs in the supply chain and consumer product goods space. It's always a privilege when I get to share the inspiration behind starting Wynn's Kitchen and how I learn to navigate all the challenges of building a brand and starting a business that was created out of my own kitchen.
My hope is that it inspires others to go after their dreams. Nothing in life is guaranteed and I continue to share the challenges that I've faced in the past and still face. But there is no greater fear for me than to live with regret and wonder, what if....
To everyone who made this experience possible—thank you. And to anyone aspiring to share their voice at such platforms, remember this: your insights matter, and there is always a place for your voice in the conversations that shape our world.
